At San Mamés Groundhopper I take you with me to my unforgettable football experiences at unique venues. Whether you are a fanatic groundhopper or just want to explore the experience of attending a match, please join me. I started this website in 2025 at the occassion of for me 40 years of visiting professional football matches which all started in De Baandert in Sittard in 1985. In total I visited so far 65 stadiums in professional football. This site is called after one of the most impressing trips I made to one of the most beauftifull stadiums: San Mamés. This website has no commercial goal.
My football life all started in De Baandert in Sittard and continues at least every two weeks as season ticket holder in the Philips Stadium.
Within an hour drive I am in Germany to visit large footballstadium in the Bundesliga with a nice beer and bratwurst. Always a good atmosphere; not always a good match.
In Belgium some great old school stadiums are still in use with the 100 year Dudenpark as most special example.
I have lived in Paris for more than a year and was able to visit some nice matches there. However more stadium are a visit worth wile.
In Spain I visited some iconic stadiums including one of the most famous football matches in Europe: El Classico in Barcelona.
There were football all started. Unfortunately I have not been able to visit that many matches yet.
I have been to Italy for a football match only ones. But it was a real pleasure.
