Wuppertaler SV - Borussia Mönchengladbach 0-6

The kick off for the 26/27 season for me takes place in one of the most historic old venue of Bundesliga history: das Stadion am Zoo was home of WSV in the Bundesliga in the seventies as they even qualified for the UEFA Cup. Just before summer this year WSV relegated to the Oberliga Niederrhein, the 5th level in Germany. On this nice Saturday afternoon they host  Borussia Mönchengladbach for a friendly match. My son and I parked our car at Vohwinkel, the starting point of the famous Schwebebahn that stops just in front of the stadium and zoo. Before the match be bought of course a bratwurst before entering the nice historic mainstand with 5,000 seats of the total capacity of 23,067. The rest of the stadium consist of mainly standing places without a roof and with the trees of the zoo at the back. The stadium shows some simularities with the Dudenpark in Brussels. For Borussia it is the first match of the year and they are not sharp yet which leads to hilarious comments from the home fans and as a result of that annoyed neighbours. But it ends 0-6. After the match we continued our Schwebebahn trip to the historic center which is as boring as any Germany city center.
