My annual football trip with my friend brings us this winter to Ghent. The stadium is still quit new and we passed it by several times since it is next to the highway in direction Paris. In the center of Ghent it is busy due to the Christmas market. After a short walk around we end up in a small pub near the canals with a cat on the bar. Of course we want real Belgian food: a stew from Ghent. But it is hard to find a restaurant on our way back from the city center to the car park. When we arrive at the stadium we are lucky: there is a Van der Valk hotel next to it. We go inside and can finally enjoy our stew. At the table next to us we see Jumbo-Visma cyclist Fem van Empel. Not much later she stops: she probably also wanted more stew with fries and beer... The stadium starts to get filled just before kick off but the Buffalos don't play very well today. They play very defensive which is not rewarded today.
