In 1999 Fortuna Sittard left the Baandert and went to its new stadium. Soon Fortuna relegated to the Eerste divisie where it would remain for many years. They almost lost their professional football licence and played at the bottom of the league. In 2014 Sittard has its first highlight in the new stadium: they play in the Play offs for promotion. After I was often in De Baandert as a child I wanted to go back to the new stadium. The stadium was filled well but the atmosphere was rapidly gone after the guests scored a few times. The new stadium did not impress on a far distance from town.
